New players normally start by using club owned mallets but, once they have become full members and get a feel for the game, purchase their own. All members and guests are charged a fee of €5 to use a club mallet which is used for maintenance and replacement.
Advice on choosing a suitable mallet can be found here and can be purchased either at the Croquet Association 'online' shop, Wood Mallets 'online' shop or for a list of other retailers click here If you are purchasing from the UK Algarve Removals will ship to a pick up point in Tavira every week which may be more competitive than paying shipping and import fees if the supplier sends it direct to Portugal. There are also two mallet suppliers in Spain which may be a better option since Brexit JC Mallets and The Brass Spot Please mention you are a member of PFCSC to take advantage of any negotiated discounts when talking with any supplier.
To distinguish ourselves as croquet players at Pedras da Rainha we wear our club colours of Aqua blue polo shirts for men and ladies, together with white shorts or trousers and white shoes or sandals with flat soles.. We have the short sleeved Aqua blue polo shirts with the PFCSC logo available to buy at €15 (long sleeved polo €18) but new members and guests are NOT expected to buy these from the start. Whatever you possess that is blue will do to start with together with white trousers or shorts. A fleece is desirable for the winter months, even in the Algarve, and we offer these for sale with the club logo for €25 In the summer we have T shirts with the club logo for €10 and vests for €8 .
